Stimulates the dermis to increase collagen
"Skin Rejuvenation" (dermal remodeling) or Foto Rejuvenation is performed by Dr. O’Reilly with our Vbeam laser, by Candela Corporation (a pulsed dye laser). The chromophore or target for the pulsed dye laser is to stimulate the dermis enough to send a new production of collagen to the dermis to heal the treated area. It has been reported that an increase of up to 87% is realized with this treatment. Collagen is the elasticity of the underlying layer of skin cells that plays a dramatic role in strengthening and toning the skin layers. This procedure is recommended 2 times with a 4-6 week interval between treatments.
This treatment has been gaining ground as a viable option over more invasive procedures like skin resurfacing (ablative treatments). Patients don't want to be anesthetized and they also don't want to have to take time away from work or family to improve their skin condition. There is no down time with skin rejuvenation. You get gradual and significant long-term improvement and it does not change the skin color at all. Additionally, you can combine skin rejuvenation with microdermabrasion (gently removing the outer layer of the skin, the stratum corneum) and Botox injections (weakening facial muscles beneath the skin) for an overall balanced program.
